CCF Media Release – Peak Civil Construction Body Welcomes Release of S.O.P review:

Australia’s peak employer body representing the Civil Construction industry today welcomed the Turnbull Government’s release of the final report of the ‘Review of Security of Payment Laws’.

Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) Chief Executive Officer Chris Melham said: the release of this Report has been highly anticipated by CCF and its members who are keen to work with Federal and State Governments to improve protections for individuals and small businesses involved in subcontracting in the building and construction industry.

“I also applaud Minister for Small and Family Business, the Workplace and Deregulation, the Hon Craig Laundy MP for releasing the Report in a timely manner and committing to consult with industry to consider the report’s recommendations”, Melham said.

“The CCF also commends the stewardship shown by the Mr John Murray AM in leading the review and compiling a comprehensive report that contains 86 recommendations to improve consistency in security of payment legislation and enhance protections to ensure subcontractors get paid on time.

The 86 recommendations will be considered by the Civil Contractor’s Federation at its peak national policy forum being held in Canberra on 31 May 2018. The CCF looks forward to remaining engaged and providing comprehensive response to the Reports recommendations”, Melham said.

The CCF is particularly interested in working with Federal and State legislatures to ensure the findings of the review are dealt with in a constructive, transparent and expedient manner.
