From the CEO, John Kilgour.

Following the escalation in coronavirus (COVID-19) related restrictions announced in Victoria following the National Cabinet yesterday, one of the most important questions that CCF members are asking today is whether they can remain open for business.

The Premier’s Office has advised that if you have not been included in the list below of businesses that have been told to shutdown, then your business is able to continue to operate, provided that you have all the necessary safety protocols in place in accordance with advice from the Chief Health Officer of Victoria. In addition, where your staff can work from home they should work from home.

The businesses that will close due to the Stage 1 shutdown are pubs, clubs, nightclubs, Crown Casino, and licensed venues in hotels and pubs. It also includes gyms, indoor sporting venues, places of worship, cinemas and entertainment venues. Restaurants and cafes will only be allowed to provide home delivery or takeaway services.

The construction industry is classified as an “essential service” and we are involved in discussions with governments that the designation of essential services for our industry remains.

The situation is constantly changing and for further queries you can contact us on 1300 DIAL CCF for more details.
