Civil Contractors Federation Victoria has welcomed the Commonwealth Government’s continued commitment to infrastructure, with the 2025 Federal Budget maintaining the Infrastructure Investment Program Pipeline above $120 billion and signalling strong growth over the forward estimates.

This year’s Budget includes $15.5 billion for 51 new projects across the country, alongside an additional $1.6 billion allocated to support the delivery of projects already underway.

For Victoria, this funding will support critical infrastructure projects including:

Lisa Kinross, CEO of CCF Victoria said the announcement was a positive signal for local contractors and the communities these projects will benefit.

“This investment is a strong show of confidence in the importance of infrastructure to our economy and our future,” Kinross said.

“We welcome the funding for new and ongoing projects in Victoria, which will help connect communities, unlock housing, and support local jobs.”

However, Ms Kinross said more needed to be done to ensure the workforce delivering Victoria’s projects was supported.

“While dollars are flowing to projects, not a cent has been committed to training the civil workforce that’s essential to delivering them,” she added.

“The men and women who build this infrastructure are as important as the funding, and it’s time the Commonwealth also invested in developing the skilled workforce required to deliver on these commitments. Without adequate investment in people, these projects risk delay and cost overruns.”

CCF Victoria will continue to advocate for increased recognition and funding for civil apprenticeships and training to ensure the sustainability of our state’s construction sector.
