CCF Victoria has welcomed the release of Victoria’s Infrastructure Strategy 2025-2055 while
reaffirming the importance of early civil industry engagement in the strategic planning and
design stages of infrastructure projects and programs.

The 30-year strategy provides a roadmap for action across a range of policy areas including housing, energy, transport and social infrastructure.

“With Victoria’s population forecast to soar to more than 10 million by mid-century, properly planned infrastructure will be crucial for community and economic prosperity,” Annie Kessell, CCF Victoria’s Executive Manager Industry Engagement & Member Services, said.

“Civil infrastructure as delivered by our contractor members is the foundation of our cities, towns and suburbs.

“Whether brownfields or greenfields developments, the civil industry is responsible for the roads, rail and active transport infrastructure that gets Victorians moving, for the bridges and tunnels that connect communities and the earthworks and sub-divisions on which affordable homes of choice can be built.”

CCF Victoria applauds Infrastructure Victoria’s acknowledgement for infrastructure to be “well-planned, built and maintained” to improve productivity and reiterates the opportunity to better engage industry on infrastructure delivery to meet the Strategy’s objectives.

“This is not without its challenges. Elsewhere, the government has acknowledged a lack of enabling infrastructure, delays or uncertainty in planning approvals and lack of coordination across government constrain development,” Ms Kessell said.

“Our position is clear: overcoming these challenges begins with the early engagement of civil contractors, the professionals who will deliver the foundations for economic and community prosperity.”
