Civil industry suppliers and contractors are encouraged to register their Expressions of Interest (EOIs) in works packages for new transmission infrastructure required as part of Victoria’s energy transition.

The state’s energy agency VicGrid has selected three consortia to submit tenders to design, deliver, finance and operate the transmission infrastructure.

While the preferred development partner is expected to be appointed in 2026, VicGrid says it is committed to ensuring local content and local workforces will be part of the eventual project delivery and the successful development partner will be required to prepare a comprehensive local industry development plan (LIDP).

The LIDP will ensure that the project not only connects Australia’s first offshore wind industry but also builds a strong regional clean energy workforce and supports local businesses across the supply chain.

Next steps and Industry Capability Network (ICN) Gateway

Once a project partner is appointed, VicGrid and the successful tenderer will then commence the development phase, where the focus on supplier engagement and work packages will intensify.

Civil contractors and civil industry suppliers are encouraged to register on the VicGrid ICN Gateway – an essential step to ensure visibility of your capabilities for the development partner. This portal provides a direct channel for local businesses to engage early and prepare for upcoming work packages, including:

  • Supply of equipment and materials
  • Trades and construction
  • Engineering and design services
  • Workforce accommodation.
