Sam Birell
Nationals Candidate for Nicholls

Sam is a member of the Australian House of Representatives for the division of Nicholls in northern Victoria and a member of the National Party.

After completing the Fairley Leadership program in 2013, Sam was very interested helping the newly formed Committee for Greater Shepparton as a volunteer. He believed that the development of the Committee was a great step forward and an opportunity to align the leadership in the region and ensure their story and aspirations were front and centre in the mind of decision makers in Canberra and Melbourne. Sam became CEO of the Committee in 2016 and remained in that role until 2021.

In the 2022 Australian federal election, Sam won a race between a Liberal Party candidate and independent candidate Rob Priestly.

Sam will address The Coalition’s plan for attracting migrants with in-demand skills, and the need to not only bring workers to this region, but also on the importance of having the infrastructure to support them.
