To: CCF Victoria staff, members and stakeholders.

Good morning.

In my final CEO Update for 2020, it is pleasing to report that yesterday Victoria recorded zero COVID-19 positive cases and zero deaths (now 53 consecutive days) and that the NSW Northern Beaches outbreak is coming under control, which I am sure is a relief for many as we come into the forthcoming festive season.

I have just completed my CEO editorial for the forthcoming CCF Bulletin Magazine (2021 Summer Edition), which will be circulated to CCF Victoria staff, members and key stakeholders upon our return to work in January 2021.

In writing the editorial, it provided me not only the opportunity to reflect on the important work of the CCF but also take a “hard look” at the small and important things in life that we do.  I believe this truly defines who we are and what we stand for.  Professionally, these are usually the business results attained and outputs delivered.  They are tangible, easily seen, measurable and well documented.  But 2020 will define us in a different light.  A more resilient and caring community for one another, that will emerge from the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 crisis with a greater sense of belief in one’s self and what can be achieved in the face of adversity.

I want to share this quote by former American Politician and Navy Seal, Eric Greitens, that I am sure will resonate with many …. “We all have battles to fight. And it’s often in those battles that we are most alive: it’s on the frontlines of our lives that we earn wisdom, create joy, forge friendships, discover happiness, find love, and do purposeful work.”

I believe this to be true in all of us.  Life’s journey is never easy but if nothing else, 2020 has made us all realise what is important and we hold so precious.  As we take “time out” from our busy work schedules with family and loved ones for the Xmas / Holiday period, it is important that we all do just that !!

So until my next update in 2021 …. “Wishing you and your family peace, health, happiness and prosperity in the coming year.”

Warm regards

John Kilgour
