CCF Victoria represents almost 500 contractor businesses employing more than 45,000 Victorians in the civil construction sector.

CEO Lisa Kinross said today’s announcement reflected what will be the Federal Election deciders, delivering housing enabling infrastructure and bringing down cost of living and commute times for the growing number of road users returning to the office in 2025.

Ms Kinross urged the Federal Government and Opposition to recognise that the forthcoming election would be won by the party that delivered a comprehensive infrastructure plan and funding for housing and communities.

“Victoria’s growing population demands leadership with a vision to unlock homes, upgrade transport links to get families home quicker and to deliver cheap, efficient energy to bring down prices,” Ms Kinross said.

“Civil infrastructure is the foundational asset that enables all of these things and must be at the heart of these plans.”

Today’s announcement of the Werribee Main Road – Princes Freeway Interchange and Ballan Road Intersection upgrades are vital steps to support Melbourne’s future as it overtakes Sydney as Australia’s largest city.

With every million dollars invested in civil construction creating 7.2 jobs, Ms Kinross emphasised the pivotal role of civil infrastructure in driving economic growth and societal outcomes.

“These projects will create over 1,600 jobs and enhance connectivity and safety. They demonstrate how infrastructure investment can support a growing, thriving, sustainable city,” she added.

“While these projects are a great start, Victoria needs a unified, bipartisan commitment to a civil infrastructure campaign that prioritises housing, transport, and clean energy.

“Civil infrastructure is the foundation for a stronger, more prosperous Victoria.”
