Civil construction will be the common denominator as the State Government accelerates its renewable energy transition and housing implementation priorities, within its overarching Plan for Victoria.
Infrastructure is the foundation of Victoria’s progress and prosperity, being vital to major projects ranging from solar farms and maintaining roads in regional areas to developing our ports, urban and regional communities.
By mid-century, Victoria’s population is forecast to soar from over six million to 10.3 million people, while the Government’s vision is to have achieved the net carbon zero target in the same timeframe.
The road to net zero carbon requires the renewable energy transition with civil infrastructure as the bedrock but we can’t reach this destination without a concrete roadmap.
This week, CCF Victoria attended the first of several planned industry forums hosted by VicGrid. The agency is responsible for coordinating the planning and development of Victoria’s Renewable Energy Zones and transmission infrastructure to support the transition to renewable energy.
VicGrid has now launched draft Victorian Transmission Plan Guidelines, to ensure the right amount of energy infrastructure is built to support a smooth transition to renewables as ageing coal-fired power stations retire.

On 11 September, we’re holding our Land Development and Utilities breakfast for business leaders and key decision makers from across industry and government with Energy & Resources Minister Lily D’Ambrosio providing the keynote.
As well as hearing more about the Victorian Transmission Plan, it will also be an occasion to consider the role of civil contractors in the renewable energy transition.
