The current Concrete Pumping Industry standard, dated 2004, allows the pump operator to also act as the pump hand; that is hold the rubber end of the delivery hose whilst also trying to operate the controls of the pump itself.

Clearly there is a conflict and a compromise in being able to safely carry out both roles which may lead to dangerous situations.

We recommend that contractors refer to the Queensland Code of Practice dated 2019, which clearly sets out the roles of each concrete pump worker.
