Course Details

The RIICRC208E – Lay pipes unit equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to safely and effectively lay pipes in civil construction settings. This competency is crucial for professionals involved in water, sewerage, drainage, and other pipeline installation projects.

Participants will learn to select, prepare, lay, join, and inspect pipes in accordance with job specifications and environmental considerations, ensuring compliance with industry standards. This unit is often a pre-condition for participating in ARCUS-accredited water supply works.

Mode of Delivery:

  • Face-to-face practical training and assessment

Training is conducted by qualified industry professionals at our dedicated training facilities or on suitable worksites. This course is delivered by nationally accredited Registered Training Organisation Civil Contractors Federation (Victorian Branch) (RTO number 3704).

Topics Covered

On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Interpret and apply work requirements, plans, and specifications.
  • Identify and address potential risks, hazards, and environmental issues.
  • Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Set out excavation sites and prepare foundations.
  • Install bedding materials to specified depths and grades.
  • Lay pipes, ensuring correct alignment, jointing, and sealing.
  • Check pipe installations for line and level accuracy.
  • Advise on backfilling requirements and complete backfilling operations.
  • Finish inlets and outlets according to design specifications.
  • Conduct site clean-up and equipment maintenance
