Course Details (ONLINE)
This is a 3-day Theory-only course where participants will cover all theoretical components of the course, complete theory assessments, and engage in any simulated exercises.
Note:
- No post-course practical training is required for a non-practitioner course.
- By completing this course you do not have the qualification to work on a live road.
This Course Provides non-practitioner status, which excludes individuals from creating TMPs and TGSs.
This non-accredited (non-practitioner) course is delivered by the Civil Contractors Federation (Victoria Branch), a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Number 3704) and an Austroads approved training provider. This new course is licensed by Austroads, and on successful completion of the course, learners are registered in the Austroads national system, ensuring consistent recognition across all participating jurisdictions.
Online Training Requirements
Before enrolling to this course, please ensure you have:
- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 laptop or desktop computer (Mac devices are not supported for this course).
- A reliable internet connection.
- Microsoft Teams installed and working.
- Microsoft Quick Assist installed and working, as this will be used during Day 2 practical activities when instructed by the trainer.
- A working webcam, microphone and speakers (or headset).
During the Training
- Join the session at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time:
- Northern Territory (NT) learners: Session starts at 8:00 AM NT time
- Tasmania (TAS) learners: Session starts at 8:30 AM TAS time
- Your camera must remain switched on throughout the training to meet attendance and participation requirements.
- Training sessions will be recorded for quality assurance and compliance purposes.
- Participate from a quiet, distraction-free environment with a safe and ergonomic workstation.
- Follow all trainer instructions and actively participate in the training and assessment activities.
If you experience technical issues during the session, notify the trainer immediately.
Topics Covered
The course will cover the following steps in the preparation of Traffic Management plans and Guidance schemes:
- Support and review traffic management plan implementation.
- Prepare traffic management plans and traffic guidance scheme.
- Establish context for traffic management plan and traffic guidance scheme.
- Audit the risk management process and complete records.
- Implement and evaluate risk control.
- Identify potential actions and develop risk controls.
- Assess workplace risks and identify unacceptable risk levels.
- Identify workplace hazards and assess associated risks.
- Plan and prepare for implementing a risk management process.
Who should attend?
It is designed for individuals who need to understand traffic management principles but do not perform traditional traffic management roles at worksites.
Prerequisites
• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Have Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills to ACSF level 2 or above.
What qualifications does this offer?
Upon successful completion of the three days, you will be issued with a Statement of Completion for Category 1 Traffic Management Designer (Non-Practitioner)
