South East Water’s Land Development Team have released an important update letter this week, in accordance with the current government requirements during stage 4 restrictions.

The letter outlines the impact this may have on services to developers, consultants, contractors, builders, plumbers and other sectors involved in the land development and property industry.

Update – South East Water’s response to coronavirus (COVID-19)

As the situation is continually evolving, including the introduction and now extension of Stage 4
restrictions, our Connections and Land Development Teams are consistently reviewing our
processes and practices to minimise any impact on our services to developers, consultants,
contractors, builders, plumbers and other sectors involved in the land development and
property industry.

However, it is evident that the continuing current situation is having an impact on our
resources with our Connections and Land Development teams. This coupled with the number
of applications remaining unchanged and significant road and rail projects under planning and
construction, we expect to see an ongoing impact to our normal service levels as restrictions
continue.

We expect some delays in the following business processes:

  • Preliminary servicing advice
  • Other authority works
  • Requests for early release
  • Works warranty bonds and reimbursement returns

Our primary focus will be the following business processes:

  • Letter of offers – Schedule 7 (for Works Agreements)
  • Statutory town planning and certification requirements
  • Consent to the issuing of a Statement of Compliance
  • For Connections, the focus will be processing the plumbing and buildover applications as quickly as possible.

While we are confident that we’ll return to the level of service necessary to satisfy the needs of
the development industry, we’d appreciate it if you could prioritise and communicate your
projects’ requirements through the normal communication channels. Providing sufficient leadtime
will support us greatly in ensuring we can meet project timelines.

Furthermore, we are currently experiencing requests for specific details on developments
proposals upon lodgement of a Preliminary Servicing Advice application. This is not the intent
of this service. Preliminary servicing advice will continue to be high level servicing advice only.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding and patience in the
current challenging period. Our teams remain committed to delivering services to the land
development industry and the broader South East Water community.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like to provide any comments or
suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
