Course Delivery Structure
In Class Training:
- Days 1 and 2: Complete the learning and theory assessments of the course.
Post In Class Training (Must be completed within six months of theory component):
- For TC2: Students need to complete the logbook with at least 20 hours and have it signed off by the workplace supervisor.
- For TMI2: Students need to complete two separate practical observations with the workplace supervisor.
Final Practical Assessment Day:
- Final Assessment of TC2 and TMI2 to be completed with a CCF Assessor at Worksite.
If you're not working in the Traffic industry, the Civil Contractors Federation (Victorian Branch) can help arrange a placement for you. All placements are supervised by a qualified supervisor and are unpaid.
This nationally recognised Skill Set is delivered by Civil Contractors Federation (Victoria Branch), a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Number 3704) and an AustRoads approved training provider.

Prerequisites
TC2 skill set may only be undertaken if you meet the following criteria:
- Completion of the RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads(TC 1); and
- At least 40 hours of experience working in a temporary traffic management workplace in a traffic controller role.
TMI 2 skill set may only be undertaken if you meet the following criteria:
- Completion of the RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads(TMI 1); and
- At least one month of experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace; and
- Evidence of relevant experience setting up at least 12 temporary traffic management types, including high-speed roads or high-volume roads, and at least two of the following types:
- Pedestrian and cyclist controls
- Construction sites
- Lane closures
- Shoulder closures
- Night works
- Use of portable traffic control devices
- Motorways or freeways

- Prepare to control traffic and operate communication devices
- Control traffic at traffic signals where signals have been turned off
- Control traffic on high volume roads
- Prepare to implement traffic management plan
- Set out & monitor traffic guidance scheme
- Conduct housekeeping activities & close down work activities
- Ensure the work health and safety requirements are adhered to by all
- Communicate regularly with client, personnel, and other relevant parties
- Diagnose and solve routine problems
- Monitor & coordinate work program
- Maintain operating records
Who should attend?
This skill set is for individuals responsible for both traffic control and management implementation on Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 roads. It includes those overseeing traffic control in temporary traffic management settings (TC2) and those managing traffic management on-site and directing road workers (TMI 2).

Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a Statement of Attainment detailing the competencies associated with the following skill sets:
