In Australia each year as many as 30,000 Sudden Cardiac Arrests (SCAs) occur, and unfortunately, the death rate remains at 90%. This cements SCA as one of the leading causes of death in Australia.

However, if early CPR together with defibrillation is provided within minutes, survival chances are dramatically increased. For every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, the chance of survival decreases by up to 10 percent.

The Civil Contractors Federation of Victoria acknowledges that SCA is a health risk that affects a large number of Australians. As such, we have recently partnered with national defibrillation specialists, Meditac.  The intent of this partnership is to raise SCA awareness, and to improve access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDS) across the industry.

Proudly Australian, Meditac is passionate about improving victim survival rates of SCA. We are committed to raising public awareness of SCA, and dispelling the myths associated with this life-threatening condition.

Meditac will tailor an AED solution to fit your organisation’s needs, and provide ongoing support of your life saving equipment.

With cloud based tools that allow you to manage your fleet from one place, devices that self-diagnose, and innovative employee training programs, we’ll ensure your business is ready to respond in an emergency.

The civil construction industry represents one of Australia’s largest workforces. As such, the CCF Victoria strongly recommends that civil construction companies operating in Victoria provide rapid access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), for all employees and contractors.

It is known that by providing early defibrillation by an AED to a patient suffering from SCA, a person’s chance of survival can increase to around 75%. It is also known that for every minute that defibrillation is not provided to a victim, the chance of survival decreases by 10% per minute.

Together, through this initiative, we will reduce the risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest fatalities within our industry.
