The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) is delivering the Traffic Management Reform (TMR) program to transform the traffic management industry by providing the extra support needed to promote safety on the road network and reduce unnecessary congestion and delays around worksites.

Part of the TMR change involves the adopting the National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management, meaning new Training Requirements for Traffic Controllers, Implementers and Designers that come into effect March 1, 2024. CCF Victoria will be delivering all associated Skill Sets soon as listed below, as well as ‘Non-Practitioner’ training models when available.

RTO’s can commence delivering the TMR Skill Sets to meet the new industry requirements, however the new Traffic Management Design (TMD) skill set will not be enforced until these are readily available and workers have had the opportunity to receive formal training. 

The CCF will continue to deliver the current Competency of RIICWD503E Prepare Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes, which will be recognised until the new skill sets are released for the industry:

•    RIIWHS205: Control traffic with stop-slow bat
•    RIIWHS302: Implement traffic management plans

Please note: Any traffic management workers taking the previous TC and TMI training from 1 March onwards will not have their qualifications recognised by the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and will not meet the requirements of the Accreditation program
